Mary Ellen SmithMary Ellen Smith, General Manager, MSLI & AOC:

Mary Ellen is a results – oriented leader with a reputation for successful strategy development and execution. As the President and General Manager for Microsoft Licensing G.P. (MSLI) a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft, she is responsible for the extended Microsoft team including Reno, people in more than 22 states across the US, along with our facilities in Ft Lauderdale, FLA, Fargo, ND and Humacao, Puerto Rico inclusive or our state of the art manufacturing facility. In her role at MSLI and prior roles at Hewlett Packard, she drives/drove the transformation of end-to-end business processes from engineering to order fulfillment where “connecting the dots” is essential across the value chain. She is a collaborative team leader with a uniquely broad perspective of operations. She encourages her staff to generate highly pragmatic, effective solutions while being a catalyst for fresh approaches to business problems.

 

In this leadership position and in prior roles, she led regional and worldwide programs and delivered significant operational savings, enabled strategic revenue growth supporting the field sales organization and improved product quality while dramatically reducing cycle times. Her engaging leadership style along with her skills in business processes, supply chain and logistics earned her a reputation as a key contributor. She was a significant leader in driving the growth of the direct business model at HP (Compaq) while delivering on ecommerce, field and operational support. At Microsoft, she has been driving improved Operational initiatives positively impacting our customers, our supplier base and financial performance of the organization. She held leadership roles with 3COM Corp (formerly US Robotics) and NCR Corporation. Her experience ranged from financial planning to Director of Manufacturing and Technical Operations. She is experienced in both start-up and turnaround operations and has consistently received top awards and recognition for driving business results and leadership.

 

Mary Ellen received her BS in Business Administration with a dual major in Operations Management and Procurement/Materials Management from Bowling Green State University. She holds an MBA with a specialization in Logistics. Named one of the Top Women in Technology by American Women in Computing and the Inspirational Leader Role Model at Microsoft Corp, she was also a co-founder of the Supply Chain Institute at BGSU. She enjoys spending free time with her husband, Gary and their twelve year old son, Shawn. She enjoys reading and squeezing in a good book while taking a break from juggling activities. She enjoys training for endurance events as a personal challenge.

 

Robert BarrettRobert Barrett, General Manager, OEM:

Robert Barrett, General Manager of MSLI OEM Operations, has a 23+ year track record of outstanding business value creation and people leadership with global consumer product businesses. Robert joined OEM Ops team in Dec 2006 from the Home and Entertainment Divisions where he was responsible the operational support and management of the Microsoft Retail channel. Originally recruited to Microsoft to help lead the Xbox launch from the channel Management discipline & area which led to other opportunities of progressing leadership and impact in others areas of the development of the Microsoft Retail business. In his current role as GM of MSLI OEM operations, his team is responsible for the order to cash management and supply chain of the OEM / OED and System Builder businesses in Americas and Asia.

 

Prior to joining Microsoft, Robert was in a number of senior leadership roles within a variety of consumer & consumer technology companies. Prior to Microsoft, VP of Operations and Channel Finance at Eidos Interactive, where he was also active in several trade and industry groups in the leadership capacity. Prior to that, he hold several roles in similar capacity at Namco and The North Face. Robert has built a successful track record of business value and organizational competency creation in supply chain, ecommerce, customer management that has improved contribution margins and top line revenue. Robert has dual Major Degrees in Accounting and Finance from San Francisco State University.

 

Outside of Microsoft, Robert, enjoys a number of activities: Snow Boarding, Martial Arts and Video Games. In addition to his work and professional activities, he enjoys spending free time with his wife of fifteen years, Maria and their eight year old son, Alex. He also enjoys various types of sports, and when traveling internationally, really enjoys attending local sports events.

 

Brian MooreBrian Moore, HR Director:

In his HR Director role, Brian will lead and manage the MSLI HR team, including MOLC and MOPR. He will be our HR lead accountable to build and unlock leadership and management capability, deliver solid core HR services and measurement, enhance the employee experience, provide HR perspective to business decisions, and influence, develop and integrate targeted people strategies based on situational analysis for the Microsoft Licensing operations. He will report to me with a dotted line to Tracy Turman, and will be a key member of the MSLI leadership team, representing the company as a member of the local business and HR communities. Brian will also be a core member of Tracy Turman’s SMSG HR Finance/Operations organization.

 

Brian was born and raised on the Island of Cyprus, attended high school in Switzerland, graduated California State University Fresno with a BS in Management Psychology, and has over 25 years in HR in industries including Aero Space, Lumber (Boise Cascade), Automotive Glass (Libby-Owens-Ford), Health Care (Washoe Health System/Renown Medical) and Manufacturing/Distribution). He moved to Reno in 1988 from Tasmania, Australia, and is married with two children.

 

Most recently Brian was VP of Human Resources for Microflex/Barrier Safe Solutions International here in Reno, and is past President of the Northern Nevada Human Resources Association. When he's not working, Brian enjoys golf and mixed martial arts.

 

 

Jaron ChatterleyJaron Chatterley, Sr. Finance Director, AOC:

As Senior Director of MSLI Finance, Jaron Chatterley is accountable for all the Finance functions for MSLI, including accounting, tax, financial planning and analysis, revenue assurance and compliance. In addition to the finance team in Reno, Jaron has Finance leadership responsibility for the Latin America Operations Center and Microsoft’s state of the art manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico. Partnering with Mary Ellen Smith, the General Manager of MSLI, Jaron is focused on developing a best in class operations center with an unmatched reputation across Microsoft and in the Reno area. Jaron recently joined Microsoft in this role.

 

Prior to joining Microsoft, he was Vice President of Finance for Gateway computers for three years where he lead a variety of finance initiatives including the centralization of enterprise management reporting, performance management, due diligence and analysis for the divestiture of the Professional business and the eventual merger with Acer computers. Prior to his role at Gateway, Jaron lead a finance team for seven years with APL and APL Logistics, a global supply chain and logistics company. Jaron has also managed a startup manufacturing company producing security seals for the electric utility and postage industries.

 

Jaron holds a bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. Outside Microsoft, he enjoys outdoor activities, history, and spending time with his wife of eighteen years, Jan, and their five children.

 

 

Mark CreightonMark Creighton, Sr. Director, WW Credit Services:

Mark Creighton is Senior Director, WW Credit Services and is accountable for the management of Microsoft’s global accounts receivable portfolio. Reporting to George Zinn, CVP Treasury, and based out of Microsoft Licensing in Reno Mark leads teams in Reno, Dublin, Singapore, Seoul, Beijing and Fort Lauderdale. Mark joined Microsoft at its Ireland-based EMEA operations center in October 1998 as the EMEA Senior Credit Analyst. He was promoted to lead the regional Credit and Receivables Management group a year later. During the following 4 years oversaw the centralization of credit & collection activities within the region and the development of the Business Process Outsourcing solution.

 

Mark subsequently moved to MSLI in August 2003 and added responsibility for North America and WW Credit controls and compliance. Over the new few years led an initiative to consolidate Microsoft’s business process outsourcing and the development of a WW BPO solution prior to assuming global responsibility in FY’06.

 

Prior to joining Microsoft Mark was an analyst at Equitant, an Irish based BPO provider. A native of Co. Limerick in Ireland Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Business from Dublin City University and a Higher Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Science from University College Cork.
